ABOUT Barbara Rocha Venancio Meyer-Sand
Barbara Rocha Venancio Meyer-Sand is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Wageningen University & Research, affiliated with the Forest and Nature Conservation Policy Group. She works across the ABC Futures, LiFi – Living with Fires, and EMMA4EU projects.
Barbara has over a decade of international experience in forest sustainability, environmental governance, and interdisciplinary research. Her broader expertise includes deforestation-free supply chains, forest certification, forensic timber tracing, and socio-ecological systems research, bridging science, policy, and practice. Her work combines field-based research, policy analysis, and capacity building, with a strong focus on local and Indigenous communities. She has led and coordinated research activities in Latin America, Africa, and Europe, working closely with local communities, governments, NGOs, and research institutions.
Within ABC Futures, Barbara supports programme coordination, administration and communication and guides PhD researchers at this start phase of the project.
