Marijke van Kuijk

Marijke van Kuijk is an Associate Professor at Utrecht University. Within the ABC Futures project, Marijke is one of the supervisors of Sheryl Starke, a PhD candidate from Suriname who focuses on the role of Indigenous peoples in wildlife management.

ABOUT Marijke van Kuijk

Marijke van Kuijk  is an Associate Professor at Utrecht University. Her research focuses on plant–animal interactions in tropical forests, with a strong emphasis on seed dispersal, browsing, and crop raiding. She frequently collaborates with societal partners and forest-dependent communities to ensure her research is both meaningful and impactful, translating scientific insights into practical solutions for nature conservation and restoration. In addition, she is actively involved in teaching and supervising students and PhD candidates in the field of ecology and conservation science.
