ABOUT Adrian Leitoro

Adrian Leitoro is co-founder and Team Lead of Nature and People as One (NaPO) and PhD candidate part of the ABC Futures project.

In NaPO, Leitoro works at the intersection of pastoralist knowledge systems, governance structures and environmental stewardship, ensuring that indigenous pastoralist knowledge, worldviews and voices are recognized and centred in biodiversity conservation efforts. NaPO is a community-rooted organization with a vision to achieve a future where pastoralist communities in northern Kenya are universally recognised as the primary stewards of a thriving, resilient ecosystem where communities and wildlife coexist.

His academic work is deeply informed by his practical experience working alongside and being a member of the indigenous Rendille pastoralist communities in northern Kenya. His PhD focuses on pastoralist herders and communities and their contributions to conservation practice and policies.
