ABOUT Sylvia Karlsson-Vinkhuyzen
Sylvia Karlsson-Vinkhuyzen is Associate Professor with the Public Administration and Policy Group of Wageningen University. Sylvia is a political scientist with a PhD from Linköping University, Sweden, and she did her postdoc at the Yale School of Forestry.
Her research is focused on understanding the key determinants of what makes global public governance processes on climate change and biodiversity exert influence and build legitimacy across levels. She is particularly interested in the role that accountability mechanisms play in these processes and how to strengthen them to support action including through deliberation and learning.
She is involved in research projects on SDG governance in East Africa and transformative change in a European/Global context. Sylvia has been a member of the Task Force on Scenarios and Models for the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) where she has engaged extensively in dialogue with Indigenous Peoples on issues of future thinking and visioning and linked to this work done research on how to make relational values towards nature more visible in scenarios and policy.
